Chelation Therapy

Chelation therapy is used as an effective medical treatment for two purposes, heavy
metal toxicity, and vascular disease.

Heavy metal toxicity is widespread in our environment. Our food, water and air are
contaminated with heavy metals, such as lead, cadmium, aluminum, mercury, arsenic,
and thallium. These heavy metals cause free-radical damage to our organs and blood
vessels. We can test for these using hair, blood, or urine.

Once the metals have been identified, we can treat you with medications called
chelators. There are both oral and IV chelators that can be used, depending on which
metals show up in your test. These chelators can remove the damaging metals from
the body.

The second use for chelation therapy is vascular disease. In the 1950’s Dr. Norman
Clark, a physician from Detroit, who was treating a patient with di-sodium EDTA for lead
toxicity noted improvement in the patient’s heart disease. Further studies ensued,
despite EDTA being off patent, which continued to show improvement in vascular
function. With profitable cardiac bypass surgery starting in the late 1960’s, chelation
was shunned by mainstream medicine. Fortunately, alternative practitioners continued
to do research. There were numerous studies which showed patients’ improvement in
treadmill time and improvement in vascular disease. However, the medical
establishment wanted a double blind, placebo-controlled study.

The National Institute for Health funded the TACT (Trial to Access Chelation Therapy)
Trial. The trial studied patients that had had a heart attack and were on standard
medical treatment who were non-smokers. This blind study was published in 2013. It
showed an 18% reduction in major cardiac events in non-diabetics, and a 40%
reduction in diabetics. Due to the exceptional response, TACT 2 is currently studying
diabetics with heart disease, and TACT 3A with peripheral vascular disease.

Chelation therapy is a weekly I.V. infusion of EDTA and vitamins. There are currently no
insurances covering chelation therapy.

Dr. Born has been administering chelation therapy since 1991. We have administered
thousands of treatments and have had no safety issues. It can be used with other
traditional cardiovascular therapies.
